Tosh-Hovli Palace in Khiva

Built by Allakuli Khan between 1832 and 1841 Tosh-Hovli or ‘Stone House’ is a magnificent palace in Khiva featuring 150 rooms around nine courtyards, with sumptuous interiors, carved wooden pillars and high ceilings designed to bring in the desert breeze. Two separate entrances take visitors into the two wings of the palace that served as the summer residence of Khivan Khans.
